The Art of Self-Compassion

A 1-hour healing experience for busy mums to befriend their inner critic so that they can parent from a place of confidence and love, without shame and guilt keeping them stuck even if they are completely new at meditating or consider themselves not creative.

Imagine what changes when your inner critic is no longer in charge…

In motherhood —
You no longer feel crushed by guilt or perfectionism when you make mistakes (snap at the kids or forget to RSVP to a birthday invite).
You feel more present, more grounded, more trusting in your instincts. You parent from a place of confidence and compassion. You have more patience for your kids and yourself - even when you lose it at chaotic dinner time.
You’re able to say, “I’m doing enough.” And actually believe it.

At work or in your creative pursuits —
You speak up in meetings. You apply for the role. Because you are able to access more of your confidence.
You stop waiting to feel “ready” and start taking aligned action anyway. Because you can cheer yourself on.
You let yourself be seen — even if it’s a little scary. Because you trust yourself more.

In your relationships —
You stop apologising for having needs or taking up space. Instead of keeping yourself small and convenient, you start loving yourself enough to ask for what you need and deserve.
You feel more confident setting boundaries and expressing your truth — calmly and clearly, speaking from your heart.
You soften with yourself, and that softness flows into how you connect with others.

This isn’t just about art.
This is about reclaiming your wholeness.

It’s about learning to meet yourself with love, so you can show up in the world more fully — as the mother, the partner, the creative, the human you were always meant to be.

What if instead of fighting your inner critic, you learned to sit beside her — and create anyway?

The Art of Self-Compassion is a self-paced online experience that gently guides you through journaling and creative expression as tools for healing and connecting with the inner critic.

You'll learn to meet your inner dialogue with compassion, access your creative flow, and create powerful self-portraits — not of how you look, but of parts of you who need to be seen.

This course is for you if:

  • You feel held back by perfectionism, self-doubt, or overthinking in different areas of your life, not just creativity but in the way you parent or show up in relationships.

  • You want to reconnect with your creativity — but feel blocked or unsure how.

  • Your inner critic has been loud, especially when you try to do something for you that you like doing.

  • You crave space to express yourself freely, without judgment.

  • You’re a mum who is healing, evolving, or simply longing to feel more like yourself again.

  • You are curious about yourself and want to try something new.

By the end of this creative experience, you’ll…

  • Quieten the intensity of your inner critic — not by silencing it, but by building trust and compassion within so that yu can mother from a place of confidence without beating yourself up every time you are naturally imperfect.

  • Create a one-of-a-kind self-portrait that reflects part(s) of your inner world and honours your experience.

  • Develop a powerful journaling practice that helps you process emotion, regulate your nervous system, and return to centre.

  • Reconnect with joy and creative flow — even if you haven’t felt “creative” in years.

  • Feel more self-led, soft, and whole — like you’ve come home to yourself a bit more.

What’s Included:

  • Short, soul-nourishing video lessons walking you gently through every step, creating a relaxed and whimsical atmosphere (watch at your own pace)

  • Complimentary information sheets with powerful journaling prompts and transformational reflection space you can use again and again in the gaps of your busy day

  • Soothing grounding meditation audio to support nervous system regulation and promote healing and self- compassion

  • The unique guided self-portrait exercise, developed by me, alchemising my favourite and most powerful modalities I have discovered in my own healing journey over the years: creative journaling, partswork and meditation.

  • Gentle invitations to sense your inner critic and meet them with curiosity, not shame - a practice you can use in any moment during your busy parenting days - this is a gentle introduction on how to do this.

‘This experience was unexpectedly powerful. I had always believed I wasn’t artistic and hadn’t drawn since high school—but the simple, clear guidance helped me let go of that story and just explore. Instead of doing what I thought was expected, I followed my curiosity.

The result surprised me: I couldn't believe I had created something like that. It was so freeing and joyful that I did the exercise again a few days later with my partner. I now see art as something I can do—and enjoy.’

A great mini-course to begin the process of addressing my inner critic.  Through an easy and fun process, I got to experience talking to my inner critic with conscious intention, love & positivity.

I loved finding my creative mojo in this exercise, which I’ve made excuses for years on why I can’t or shouldn’t draw or write.

During the course, I realised the importance of

‘just starting… feel proud of what I do… enjoy the process rather than focus on the result… be in the moment and to not overthink things … follow the heart & joy of creating.’

I found Lisa's experience very refreshing. I love that sometimes the simple activities are the best for journeying through different life challenges. From the moment I clicked through the experience was seamless and the steps easy to follow. The video explanation gave me a clear 'why' and I knew exactly the intention of the activity for myself. I love art as an expression of thoughts and feelings so was excited to dive in, and was more than delighted by the outcome, that I repeated the activity for a few weeks after. It was so interesting to explore my inner critic in this way, it felt like I gained some awareness of where they rock up in my life in a gentle supportive yet curious way.

Hi, I am Lisa!

I have been where you are right now!

I’m Lisa Quinney — a counsellor, creative, and spaceholder for mothers — but more than that, I’m someone who knows what it’s like to be trapped by the inner critic and the shame it brings along with it.

For much of my early motherhood journey, I let my inner critic lead. It was the voice that told me I wasn’t doing enough, wasn’t present enough, wasn’t good enough, full stop. That voice stole so much joy, made me question myself constantly, and left me burnt out and disconnected — from my creativity, my children, and my own sense of self.

I created The Art of Self-Compassion because I wish I had something like this back then — a gentle, practical way to notice that inner voice, soften it, and take back the driver’s seat with kindness.

In my counselling work with mothers, I’ve seen how transformational it can be when we start recognising that inner critic and realise we don’t have to believe everything it says. And from that moment on, things begin to shift. Days feel lighter. The pressure eases. Creativity and confidence slowly return.

This is the work I love most — not fixing, but remembering. Reconnecting. Learning how to lead ourselves with warmth instead of harshness. And I’m so honoured to walk beside you as you begin your own self-compassion journey.
